Metal Element

Autumn is the season of Metal, when the natural world begins to breathe its final breaths. The leaves change colour and fall to the ground. As they rot, they turn into the mineral-rich soil beneath our feet, where seeds then fall and earth’s deterioration begins. We have explored and experienced that upward, dynamic growth in the spring, which was followed by the intense dynamic growth of the summer, and then the maturing of the late summer crop. The metal element gives us the importance of letting go, and a change in the energy starting to go inwards.

Metal is precious, having been created over aeons of time by continuing to inwardly compress and, as a result, evolves into something of worth. We have the same ability to free ourselves of things that are of no use to us by letting go.

Metal Imbalanced

  • Inhospitably: This can be experienced as cold heartedness or guarded.
  • Accumulation and grief: A person may also be unable to let go of thoughts or personal belongings. A person may hold too much sentimental value on things, it can become overwhelming. The capacity to grieve properly changes to becoming disproportionate, too much for too long or the inability to lament.
  • Respiratory issues: Problems with the lungs such as asthma, frequent coughing, or shortness of breath and a weakened immune system.
  • Skin disorders: Skin conditions like dryness, eczema, or excessive sweating.

  • Digestive problems: Issues with the large intestine such as constipation or diarrhoea.
